Playing Turns

AS AGGRESSOR

-how did turn card hit each players' ranges
-continue to bet with good value hands and strongest bluffs
-THE STRONGER OUR PERCEIVED RANGE= the more bluffs we could add in our range
-THE WEAKER THEIR RANGE= the more bluffs we could add

OOP:
-bet strong value + draws to prevent check through
-include check/raises with strong values + bluffs vs aggro/regs
-check/calling strong medium value hands (eg. top pair with mid kicker)
-check/folding weak draws + weak pairs

IP:
-bet strong value + draws
-use overcards/ strong perceived range as a bluff
-check back to realise equity if we dont have fold equity (pot control + trap)

MULTIWAY:
-betting range is narrower as less fold equity esp. on wet boards

FACING A TURN RAISE:
-almost always strong hands on both dry and wet boards esp. multiway
-we include bet/folding the weaker part of our range

WHEN BETTING TURN ALWAYS THINK AHEAD TO WHICH RIVERS WE'LL KEEP BETTING ON AND WHICH WE WILL SHUT DOWN

SIZINGS
-when we bet small flop-> usually bet bigger turn
-depends on betting range, board texture and opponent
-if we bet most hands = small sizings
-vs weaker range = small sizings
-much stronger range = larger sizings
-vs call happy players= larger sizings
-dry boards= small sizings
-draw heavy boards= larger sizings
-vs multiple opponents= larger sizings

AS CALLER

-what range is he barreling?
-look at preflop and flop actions-> conduct a range

OOP:
-check/calling better parts of our value range eg. top pairs and very strong second pairs
-vs aggro and good players, defend a bit wider
-be prepared to call down triple barrels on certain turns + rivers
-check/calling with best draws and check/fold with weak draws
-check/raising very good value and strongest bluffs (sometimes)-> make sure they know how to fold
-continue check/calling often with strong value hands on dry boards (TRAP)

IP:
-call better parts of our range but wider
-what type of players are betting? adjust to tendencies
-eg. wetboard and aggro player betting = can have many draws still
-calling with most draws IP as more opportunity to bluff rivers
-often just calling very strong hands on dry boards
-raising very polarized range on turn

ALWAYS THINK ABOUT BOARD TEXTURE, PLAYER TYPES AND POSITIONS
-does villain know how to fold?
-when they check twice, usually doesnt have made hands therefore can exploit them later

WHEN CHECKED TO:
-bet all draws + value hands
-often very weak when they check turns-> be prepared to barrel river also
-check back medium hands on dry boards

MULTIWAY
-turn barreler have very strong range
-continue with very strong value range
-be aware of draws with reverse implied odds (low flushdraws, lower end of straights)
-when checked to: bet with best draws + value

WHEN FLOP IS CHECKED THROUGH:
[AS CALLER OOP]
-lead all gutters+ and lots of value
vs multiple opponents
-tighten up our range- only bet good draws + value
-after leading turn, be prepared to barrel many rivers except on [A]

[IP]
-vs turn leads, call most medium hands + draws HU
-villain often have unbalanced checking range on flop therefore less value for him
-tighten up considerably if original raiser is betting into many players
-vs turn checks, we now bet very wide with value and bluffs
-checking twice usually means weak -> no draws or value
therefore, we follow through on many rivers especially if draws complete
-vs multiple opponents, tighten up but still bet when checked twice

WHEN FLOP IS CHECKED THROUGH:
[AS AGGRESSOR OOP]
-bet our value hands for 2 streets (dont trap)
-bet middle type hands for 1 street
-leading many draws as villain checkback range is very weak
-exploiting weak ranges

[AS AGGRESSOR IP]
-going for thin value when checked to
-very wide with value + bluffs
-be prepared to barrel rivers especially if draws completed
